Back To Writing

Out of the blue, my writing muse has returned after being away for the longest time.

The ironing job leaves me, not just physically tired, but mentally drained as well.

And writing has been one of the things that had fallen by the wayside.

Until…

I can’t remember when exactly, but the thought of wanting to write again just popped into my head.

So, I dug out the story I’d been working on since 2017 or maybe even earlier than that.

It’s another fairy tale retelling, loosely based on ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, and I re-read it to see how I felt about it, having not touched it for almost a year.

The version I read was the 5th draft, and I’d made significant changes to the plot, which, on re-reading, I’m happy with.

But it’s not as if I didn’t do any writing at all.

A couple of years ago, I joined ‘Deadlines for Writers’ and took part in the ‘12 Short Stories’ challenge, which I blogged about.

The reason was to rediscover the joy of writing, and it worked.

For the foreseeable future, I’ll be going back to blogging about writerly things.

In another month or so, I’m planning on posting a collection of short stories, one a week.

I hope you’ll stick around for that and, maybe, find something that interests you.

If there’s anything writerly or book-related you’d like me to talk about, just leave a comment and I’ll do my best.

Next week, I’ll talk about my love-hate relationship with YA fantasy.
