Notes on Scrapbooking, and Layouts
It occurred to me that I have been very lax in putting more scrapbooking pages on here... I'll be the first to admit that I'm not very adventurous with my scrapbooking, I don't use paints or any mixed media stuff, I tend to stick to paper & related embellishments. Here are some of the techniques I use or am planning on using:
Cut out flowers or shapes from patterned papers as embellishments & (sometimes) attach them with 3D foam
Cover slide mounts with matching paper to highlight stuff
Use ribbon as photo corners
Use tags for journaling, hidden behind pictures
Mix different alphabet fonts & styles (flat stickers, chipboard) for titles
If using lots of coloured photos, change to B&W so as not to overwhelm the layout with conflicting colours
Cut out focal point of photo, mount on paper or card, then glue back onto photo
Use ribbons or fibres to border an entire page
Use vellum as frame
Rip & tear background paper; frames; photos & ink around edges
Sandpaper to create distressed look especially with white-core cardstock & edge of photos
Partially cover with sheer fabric to give soft, mysterious look
Here are some pages from the boys' baby scrapbooks using some of the techniques:
And a couple each from their birthday scrapbooks; most of the pages feature other kids and I can't be doing with tracking down parents to see if they mind me posting pix of their kids on my blog!
This is part of a layout, using vellum as frame & cut-out flowers as embellishments
Shall post more layouts over the next couple of days...
