'Wedding' Altered Book Journal
Even though we’re moving out of what’s considered the traditional ‘wedding’ months, I still wanted to complete this project; after all, there’s no ‘set’ time for when brides – before or after the wedding – might want to journal about the special day.
As with all my altered book journals, this one is also made using a ‘Readers Digest’ hardback with pages removed so the finished journal wouldn’t gape open.
I used a combination of scrapbook papers and lined papers overlaid with digital patterned papers and images from Public Domain Pictures, and I also used a couple of digital kits from Etsy – images from ‘The Wedding’ by Mrs Cog’s Crafts, and French envelopes by Ruby&Pearl.
The stencilled image on the cover is from a design by Gabrielle Pollaco called ‘She Said Yes’, which also includes the script on the spine of the journal, and both are on burgundy cardstock; the back of the journal is also covered with burgundy cardstock.
I glued a transparent bead to the neck area as a ‘pendant’.
The 3D sticker roses are by Anna Griffin (what a surprise!).
The wide ribbon closure is glued right across the back and the spine but not the front, obviously.
I used the images from ‘The Wedding’ mainly as journaling cards with a few as tuck spots.
I’ve only printed the address sides of the French envelopes, leaving the reverse blank for journaling.
There are 3 flip-out envelopes covered with scrapbook paper and glued to the inside of the pockets, with a selection of the French envelopes and tea-dyed papers.
In the journal pockets are larger print-outs of a few French envelopes and tea-dyed papers.
There are a couple of heart-shaped paper clips holding the papers in place in the pockets.
Instead of using paper clips, I’ve also included a pair of ‘diamanté’ hair clips.
One page is covered in burgundy velvet, and the image on the cream card glued to it can be removed from the 4 photo corners and replaced with a personal photo. The cream card is ‘open’ at the top as a pocket.
There are also pieces of lace trim on a few pages.
If you’d like a more detailed look at the journal, as always, here’s a video flip-through.
Thank you, and hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
