Top Ten Tuesday - Inspirational & Thought-Provoking Book/Reading Quotes
‘Top Ten Tuesday’, according to the host, That Artsy Reader Girl, “was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.” Head on over to That Artsy Reader Girl to find out how to join and to check out the topics that have already been decided. New topics are announced a couple of months in advance, so you can plan ahead.
I’ve tweaked this week’s TTT to be quotes about books and reading instead of quotes from books.
I love quotes! Over the years, I’ve compiled quotes on ‘horses’, ‘Native Americans’, ‘Eastern philosophy’ to name a few, and, of course, ‘books’ and ‘reading’. The hardest part for this TTT was choosing 10!
“To sit alone in the lamplight with a book spread out before you, and hold intimate converse with men of unseen generations – such is a pleasure beyond compare.” ~ Kenko Yoshida
“A book must be an ice-axe to break the seas frozen inside our soul.” ~ Franz Kafka

“When you sell a man a book you don’t sell just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue – you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night – there’s all heaven and earth in a book, a real book.” ~ Christopher Morley

I’m looking forward to reading your quotes and, hopefully, adding to my quote collection.
