Writing Update
How fares my work-in-progress? Sad to say, not well at all. After a slow start, I was going great guns with the rewrite of ‘The Sleeping Curse’, my retelling of ‘Sleeping Beauty’. I honestly thought I’d be done with the reworked first draft by now.
But… and isn’t there always a ‘but’… as usual, ‘life’ happened, this time in two ways. Neil came back from the care home mid-September, and the redecorating started in October.
What with finding our new way of being, plus sorting, decluttering, and moving stuff around to clear space for our wonderful decorator, Andy, my writing slowed right down to the point of non-existence.
To begin with, I was too distracted and busy to care. But now, coming up to two months, I am minding it very much.
True to his word, Andy finished before the end of October, redecorating the kitchen, dining room and four bedrooms. We should have had all the carpets down by now, and they have been fitted, all bar the one for Liam’s bedroom; the floorboards need work doing first.
I am tired of moving our stuff around from room to room, which we’ve done countless times now. Until the carpet has been laid in Liam’s room, we can’t begin to arrange and sort out our rooms the way we want. I still haven’t gotten around to getting stuff back into the dining room. I had no intention of keeping things in the garage for this long, especially as the weather has turned so very wet.
Anyway, enough of moaning. I am happy that the work has finally been done. We’ve been living in this house since before Gordon was born, 22 years ago; believe me, it was way past time for a fresh coat of paint. And, finally, the boys can have their own rooms.
So, here be our redecorated rooms… excuse the piles of stuff… Will post updated pictures when we finally have the rooms looking the way we want.
